We provide (HGV) LGV C1+E Driver Training for the DSA driving test

The LGV C1+E (medium goods vehicle and trailer) course is for drivers who hold their C1 category licence and are over 21.
And for drivers who already hold the C1+E licence on grandfather rights. (pre 1st Jan 1997) with the 8250kg train weight restriction, requiring the restriction to be lifted to 12000kg.
Our C1+E training vehicle a VW LT 46 and Ifor williams box van trailer has the advantage of being small and manoeuvrable, with simple controls and gears, whilst meeting all DSA requirements to gain the LGV C1+E licence.
Our courses for the C1+E are between two and four days training depending on your driving and towing experience, to get you to the DSA vocational test standard.
To gain your C1+E licence you will need to:

Book your C1+E course
Pass the C1+E DSA practical test
All courses are one to one tuition unless arranged by you.

Each day consists of six hours (3 hours if required) one to one training with a short break, starting the day at our safe off road site, with the driving test at the end of the last day. The courses cover all that is required for you to pass the C1+E test.

Drivers who passed a car test on or after 1 January 1997 are required to pass an additional driving test in order to drive a vehicle between 3500kg and 7500kg and gain entitlement to category LGV C1 and LGV C1+E.
All drivers who passed a car test before 1 January 1997 retain their existing entitlement to tow trailers until their licence expires. This means they are generally entitled to drive a vehicle and trailer combination up to 8.25 tonnes MAM. They also have entitlement to drive a minibus with a trailer over 750kgs MAM.
