Trailer Training UK Ltd has grown from strength to strength in the past 10 years. Over the years we have helped thousands of clients achieve their goals, acquiring new driving licences and professional industry qualifications.

Our dedicated team is lead by Director Steve Davis who has attained the highest grade DSA ADI qualification (Grade 6), Steve's background is ex-army (Royal Corps of Transport), driving and instructing an a wide range of vehicles from teaching of road driving skills to blue light driving and instructing tank transporters students achieve there HGV class 1 (C+E) Steve left the military as one of the highest qualified in his field.
Steve's team has vast experience and knowledge in the LGV and PCV industry so you can guarantee you will be in good hands.

If you passed your car driving test after 1st Jan 1997 you will need the B+E licence to tow large trailers.
The B+E course is for the car / van and a trailer or caravan with a MAM of 3500kg.
The category C+E course is to drive a articulated or draw Bar goods vehicle, Commonly known as HGV 1.
Our training vehicle is the popular and easy to drive Volvo FM 12 Globetrotter with the i-Shift fully automatic gearbox and a standard 40 ft box trailer.
The category C course is to drive a Rigid goods vehicle over 7500kg, Commonly known as the HGV 2.
Our training vehicle is an easy to drive Iveco Euro cargo with an easy car like 6 speed gearbox.
If you passed your car test after 1st Jan 1997 you will need the LGV C1 licence to drive rigid goods vehicles between 3500kg and 7500kg, most emergency ambulances come into this category.
Our training vehicle is an easy to drive VW LT 46 with car like controls.

This courses is for drivers that have passed the car driving test before 1st Jan 97 and don't need the B+E test and want to learn how to tow a trailer safely.
Companies also benefit from their workforce completing a duty of care course giving employees the knowledge to tow and reverse large trailers safely, reducing risk, of damage and injury. This helps employers achieve higher safety standards, reducing accidents and insurance costs.
If you passed your car test after 1st Jan 1997 you will need the LGV C1+E licence to drive rigid goods vehicles between 3500kg and 7500kg and trailers over 750kg. Or you may have the C1+E on acquired rights and need to get the 107 weight restriction removed.

If you passed your car test after 1st Jan 1997 you will need the PCV D1 licence to drive vehicles between 9 -16 passenger seats Or you may have the D1 on acquired rights and need to get the 101 restriction removed.
If you passed your car test after 1st Jan 1997 you will need the PCV D1+E licence to drive vehicles between 9 -16 passenger seats and trailers over 750kg.

The rules on what you can tow are different depending on when you passed your driving test.
You can view your driving licence information online to see if youíre allowed to tow.
Licences issued from 19 January 2013
From 19 January 2013, drivers passing a category B (car and small vehicle) test can tow:
small trailers weighing no more than 750kg
a trailer over 750kg as long as the combined weight of the trailer and towing vehicle is no more than 3,500kg Maximum Authorised Mass (MAM)
If you want to tow a trailer weighing more than 750kg, when the combined weight of the towing vehicle and trailer is more than 3,500kg, youíll have to pass a further test and get B+E entitlement on your licence.
Youíll then be able to tow trailers up to 3,500kg.
Licences held from 1 January 1997
If you passed your driving test after 1 January 1997 and have an ordinary category B (car) licence, you can:
For anything heavier you need to take a category B+E driving test.
drive a vehicle up to 3.5 tonnes or 3,500kg MAM towing a trailer of up to750kg MAM
tow a trailer over 750kg MAM as long as the combined weight of the trailer and towing vehicle is no more than 3,500kg
Licences held before 1 January 1997
If you passed your car test before 1 January 1997 you are generally entitled to drive a vehicle and trailer combination up to 8.25 tonnes MAM.
This is the weight of a vehicle or trailer including the maximum load that can be carried safely when itís being used on the road.
You also have entitlement to drive a minibus with a trailer over 750kg MAM.
Towing heavier combinations
If you want to tow heavier combinations, youíll have to first apply for provisional entitlement to the new C1+E entitlement. Youíll then have to pass the category C theory test and C1+E practical test.
Once youíve done this you can drive vehicles and trailers with a combined weight of up to 12 tonnes MAM.
Driving licence categories
You can drive vehicles up to 3,500kg Maximum Authorised Mass (MAM) with up to 8 passenger seats (with a trailer up to 750kg).
You can also tow heavier trailers if the total weight of vehicle and trailer isnít more than 3,500kg.
You can drive a category B vehicle with a trailer when they have a combined weight over 3,500kg.
You can drive vehicles weighing between 3,500 and 7,500kg (with a trailer up to 750kg).
You can drive C1 category vehicles with a trailer over 750kg, but the trailer - when fully loaded - canít weigh more than the vehicle.
The combined weight of both canít exceed 12,000kg.
You can drive vehicles over 3,500kg (with a trailer up to 750kg).
You can drive category C vehicles with a trailer over 750kg.
You can drive vehicles with:
no more than 16 passenger seats
a maximum length of 8 metres
a trailer up to 750kg
You can drive D1 category vehicles with a trailer over 750kg, but the trailer - when fully loaded - canít weigh more than the vehicle.
The combined weight of both canít exceed 12,000kg.
You can drive any bus with more than 8 passenger seats (with a trailer up to 750kg).
You can drive D category vehicles with a trailer over 750kg.
